    Artist Statement

    I feel that working in clay is not so much a medium
    for expressing as it is one for discovering. I am
    particularly intrigued by the woodfire process,
    as it incorporates the exciting elements of both
    chance and surprise. The rough clay of Shigaraki
    and the dynamic firing process have challenged me
    to be both direct and confident in form and intention.
