Alberetti’s works are noted for their evocations of ancient structures, and
reflective of the architecture of Italy, Turkey, France and Ireland, where
she has lived, taught and studied. The constructed and intricately carved
reliefs are multi-fired with stains, under glazes and dry borax glazes, which
are sponged, brushed and sprayed. The resulting interpretation captures the
light, textures and colors of the ancient walls, arches and columns. The
final works are fragmented architectural forms, with echoes of collective
images reflecting timelessness and antiquity, imbued with the artist’s fresh
     point of view.

Mary Lou Alberetti has taught at the university level for 27 years, and is a
full professor at Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven,
Connecticut. Her studio and home are in New Fairfield, Connecticut.
