       Artist Statement:

               History reflects the achievements of woodfiring over centuries of multiple use
       applications. Regarding the merits of anagama kilns its an elusive art form, but as a
       tool for Modern Art, this type of woodfire kiln has helped me to reach pinnacles
       of self expression. Reflecting on the essence of an artist statement, all I could think
       of was how "it changed my life". It being woodfiring and the underlying information
       one assimilates sublimely. Since 1992, my commitment to using the pyrometer to
       analyze ash behavior opened up whole new avenues of creative freedom. It
       elevated my firing technique to accomodate my aesthetic values in a surgical strike
       type of approach. After all, we are all painting with fire, its just simply a matter of
       form and color range.
